This last week we went on our first family vacation! We stayed in Irvine, CA about 10 minutes from Laguna Beach. A lot of people thought we were crazy for traveling with a 2 month old baby, but we are travelers and a baby won't stop us. And to be honest... it was so much more fun with her!
Wondering why Irvine? Sooo about a year ago I started working with a client, her name is Shauny. She worked for a company that was in my territory and I worked with her a lot with recruiting needs etc. She got pregnant and shortly after, I got pregnant too! This brought us really close and soon we found ourselves not just talking about work, but talking about our pregnancies and how excited we both were! We were both having little girls!! Over the last year or so, we have grown very close over the phone and staying in touch through Facebook with pictures. I talk to her more than I talk to most of my good friends here in AZ! Sooo once both baby girls were born, they moved from Utah to CA! PERFECT!!! We loved Cali and vacation there a lot so it was high time to finally MEET in PERSON!
People sersiously thought we were crazy. I mean in all reality, we were going to stay 2 miles from people we had never met before. Our husbands called us Penpals :). So this trip could of gone two ways, either awkward because once finally meeting in person it was weird... or perfect and just as we both thought it would go. We were both right :) It was the perfectttt vacation. Shauny and her husband Darron welcomed us in their home for dinner the first night we were there and we finally got to let Brynlee and Jersey (her daughter) meet!!! We had so much fun with them and Ryan and I both wish we all lived closed so we could hang out more often. This goes to show that a friendship or relationship for that matter can be made over the phone... we proved it! :)
So we got there Wednesday, went to Laguna Beach for lunch and took the babies down to the sand for a bit. We headed to the hotel, unpacked and headed to Shauny and Darron's for dinner! It was yummmy! Thursday we had a pool day at one of their community pools and both the girls did great! And did dinner again on Thursday night at their place! On Friday Ryan and I spent the day at Laguna, showing Brynn the ocean and letting her touch it too! We shopped around and had some lunch! Friday night we met back with Shauny and Darron and had some dinner then went back to their place for Shark Tank! Fancy, we know... :) and then to end our trip on Saturday we headed to Huntington Beach, hung around the beach for a few hours and then back to the pool to rinse off and enjoy the water for a bit! We had such a great time!
Some highlights of traveling with a baby...... you have to stop every 3 hours to feed the baby (duhh we dont want Brynn starvin!), since you cant pack EVERYTHING we found ourselves bathing her in the bath tub with one of us in it with her (pictures to come on this!), you enjoy blowouts... even at the pool and even better with no changing station in the bathroom... fun.times! And last but not least... you get to share the bed with the baby!!! Brynn doesnt sleep in our bed with us at home, so we got some serious snuggles in on vacation, it rocked! Traveling may be harder with a baby, yes, but seriously, its a lot of fun. We were challenged at times, but we always found a way to make it work! (Like when we were at the gas station changing Brynn and she not only had a blowout, but also decided to poop mid change, get it all over her socks, blanket and just everything, while not having a second diaper on hand... um yah, like I said, we made it work.) hahah!
I will do a seperate post with just pictures for you guys to enjoy!! :) Nighty night!
Awww...what a sweet story. Great friends are the best, but great friends that live in CA! Good times!! I am so glad you all had a great time and I look forward to pictures. :O)
